While investigating a series of recent forcible touching incidents in Park Slope, a police officer was assaulted by a man she was questioning, police said.
Officers were in the vicinity of Fifth Avenue and Ninth Street about 3:40 p.m. Monday when one of the officers stopped to question a man about the gropings. The man then assaulted the officer and fled the scene.
The officer was treated for a dislocated shoulder at Methodist Hospital.
Police released the above photo of the suspect, who was wearing a T-shirt featuring the band A Perfect Circle.
Meanwhile, police released a sketch of a man wanted for groping an 11-year-old girl in the same neighborhood last week. The victim was walking in front of 397 Fourth St. on Nov. 8 when the suspect approached her from behind and squeezed her buttocks, police said.
The suspect is between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11 with a slim build.
It is not yet clear whether the suspect who groped the 11-year-old girl is the same suspect who assaulted the officer, police said, though that was the incident the assaulted officer was investigating.
